Back and neck pain is one of the most common complaints we treat at Somerton Physiotherapy Clinic. At our Blanchardstown, Castleknock and Tallaght facilities we successfully treat back and neck pain on a daily basis. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) low back pain is the leading cause of disability in the general public and a leading reason for work absenteeism. Latest research estimates that up to 80% of the world’s population will suffer from back and/or neck pain at some point in their lifetime, with a large portion of these going on to develop long term issues.
The implementation of a physiotherapy treatment programme has been shown to be an effective strategy at managing both acute and long term back and neck pain, by promoting and empowering the patient to move and get active again.
What is the Back and Neck Clinic at Somerton Physiotherapy Clinic?
Our Chartered Physiotherapists are experts in treating back and neck pain in clients of all ages. At the Back and Neck Clinic you will undergo a specific assessment of your spine, so that we can ascertain your starting point. This will help your physiotherapist to develop a tailored treatment protocol that will help you reach your goals and get you back doing the activities you love doing.
At your first appointment we will take you through a comprehensive initial assessment, which gives us a definitive picture of your back or neck condition. We use a selection of key objective measures (range of movement, strength, endurance, orthopaedic testing etc.) which gives us the information to design an individual blueprint to help return you to your normal function.
Following this in-depth assessment, our treatment phase consists of hands on treatment, exercise therapy and education. Our focus is on regaining your capacity for movement and to reclaim positivity and trust in your body. We will then introduce you to some progressive movement and strengthening exercises in line with your goals and put a plan in place to address long term management and prevention.
